E-INKING OSIf you’re a fan of the XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3, you may be wondering what other eInk microreaders are available. While there are previews of the XTEINK S4 look great (touchscreen, possibly a backlight) there are other new entrants appearing.

What is the EEGOGO aka EINKING?

One new microreader is from a company called EEGOGO aka EINKING who has been teasing a device on Chinese social media for several months. Currently in early prototypes, the EEGOGO is an updated take on the XTEINK X4, features include:

  • smaller size (69mm x 99mm)
  • 4″ screen, touchscreen
  • 237 PPI
  • backlight
  • WiFi + Bluetooth
  • 1300mAh battery
  • real time clock
  • calendar
  • microSD slot expansion
  • standard USB C charging with data transmission
  • rounded design and possibly multiple colors

E-INKING MagSafe AttachThe EEGOGO device is shown as having a touchscreen, but it also has touch buttons on the front (at least in current renders that have been leaked). EEGOGO have also teased a backlight in some renders, but it’s not clear if this will make it to the final version.

An early preview of the EEGOGO device had leaked to YouTube, I’ve embedded it below.

Overall, the EEGOGO builds all everyone loves from the X4 but in a smaller more magsafe/back of phone design. There’s no word yet on release date, but I’m personally excited for this device and hope it comes at a compelling price point. If anything, we’ll have a serious challenger and alternative to the XTEINK S4.

I’ll keep this post updated as I learn more.
