The Last Star Fighter holds a special place in my memories. It’s one of the first sci-fi movies I can really remember. That’s not a slight on Star Wars, just that The Last Star Fighter story resonated. I mean, who doesn’t want to find out that the video game they’re playing is a secret training tool from friendly aliens looking for pilots to save the galaxy.

I originally planned this blog post when there were rumors of a reboot of the Last Starfighter movie. But those rumors have lost steam and will probably be lost given the coming 2027 Star Wars Star Fighter movie will end up owning the “Starfighter” name. But I digress, if you were a fan of The Last Starfighter, were intrigued by the possible reboot, this concept video from 2021 may be of interest.

I also happened to come across someone who has rebuilt The Last Starfighter game cabinet, as seen in the movie. You can find details here! you can also download the actual Last Star Fighter game too. It’s freeware, so worth having a play.
