I finally treated myself to a new gaming laptop, the Acer Nitro 5 17″ (AN517-55-5354). I love it, it has a full-color RGB keyboard, and the 12th core i5 is amazing, Acer shipped my laptop with fast NVMe, and the RTX 3050 is icing on the cake. As a total package, it’s fast. The only limitation is mine shipped with only 8GB of memory. Here’s what worked for me as a compatible memory upgrade on the Acer Nitro 5 (2022).
Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-55-5354) Compatible Memory
I upgraded to 32GB (2x16GB) 3200Mhz Laptop Memory on my Acer Nitro with this GSkill Ripjaw 2×16 (32GB) Laptop Kit.
Upgrading the Acer Nitro 5 memory was easy. You need a Philips head screwdriver set (this Stanley set is great, under US$10) and a spudger kit (this spudger kit is great and under US$10 also) to remove the case.
You will really need the spudger to remove the case. Trust me!
The Acer Nitro memory is located under a silver metal heatsink/shielding cover, which you can remove with a Philips head screwdriver. There is no BIOS change needed after upgrading the memory.
If you’re wondering what the performance improvements are going from 8GB to 32Gb RAM, here’s a comparison of my results.
Post Upgrade Performance Benchmark

Acer Nitro 2022 with 32GB (Upgrade)
There really isn’t a lot in it from a gaming performance perspective, only 5 basis points. It shows you just how great the Acer’s processor and graphics card are for driving core performance. That said, I’m glad I did the upgrade as in gaming, every small gain is worth it.
Hope this helps someone else!
