Fisher & Paykel Water Dispenser Red LightIf you own a Fisher & Paykel Fridge with a water dispenser, you may be met with a mysterious red light on your water dispenser that looks kind of like a red circle with ice cubes (see my very bad photo). This light has nothing to do with ice cubes, it’s not a warranty or service issue, so don’t panic! Ignore those YouTube videos or websites telling you that you need a service call or tools – they are wrong! It’s easy to fix, takes less than 10 seconds, and you can get on with your life.

The light simply means you need to replace your Fisher & Paykel Water Filter. In my case, the replacement is Fisher & Paykel 847200 or you can save some money and buy a cheaper aftermarket Fisher & Paykel filter like this one for half the price.

But! replacing the water filter is only half the step, you also need to manually reset your Fisher & Paykel so it knows there is a new filter, this also turns off the light.

To turn off the red ice cube light on your Fisher & Paykel water dispenser

What you need to do is:

  1. Open the fridge door.
  2. On the inside temperature control panel, hold the Alarm and + button for about 4-6 seconds.
  3. The same light as on the water dispenser will flash on and off, then off.
  4. You’re done!
  5. Well almost, make sure you also replaced your water filter – don’t lie to your fridge!

Hope this helps someone else!

PS. If this is not your red light, the Fisher & Paykel manual lists a few others but this red light on the Fisher & Paykel is the most common. You are likely to see it at least every 6 months.
