E-INKING OSIf you’re a fan of the XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3, you may be wondering what other eInk microreaders are available. While there are previews of the XTEINK S4 look great (touchscreen, possibly a backlight) there are other new entrants appearing.

What are the EEGOGO P4 LITE AND A4 (formerly the EINKING)

One new microreader is from a company called EEGOGO A4. The company was formerly known as  EINKING. EEGOGO have been teasing a device on Chinese social media for several months. The official model name for the EEGOGO is EEGOGO P4 Lite and EEGOGO A4. The EEGOGO is an updated take on the XTEINK X4

EEGOGO A4 and P4 Lite

EEGOGO have two devices, the EEGOGO A4 and the EEGOGO P4 Lite.

EEGOGO P4 Lite Specs (Open System)

  • touchscreen
  • 238PPI
  • 2Gb Memory / 32B Expandable
  • Front Light
  • microSD slot
  • WiFi + Bluetooth
  • USB C Charging

The P4 Lite supports 3rd party apps, I’m guessing it runs an older version of Android (like the XTEINK S4)

You can find a teaser video for the EEGOGO P4 Lite here.

EEGOGO A4 Specs (Close System)

  • touchscreen
  • 238PPI
  • 2000mAh battery
  • real time clock
  • microSD slot
  • calendar
  • Front Light
  • WiFi + Bluetooth
  • USB C Charging

This is much closer to the XTEINK X4, no 3rd party app support. So probably a custom OS.

EEGOGO P4 and A4 Design

E-INKING MagSafe AttachThe EEGOGO devices have a touchscreen, but it also has touch buttons on the front (at least in current prototypes that ). EEGOGO have confirmed there will be a backlight. They’re much more rounded and remind me of Apple’s old magsafe battery in terms of look, albeit much much thinner.

An early preview of the EEGOGO deviceleaked to YouTube, I’ve embedded it at the end of this post.

Overall, the EEGOGO builds all everyone loves from the X4 but in a smaller better magsafe/back of phone design. The release date keeps shifting, if anything, we’ll have a serious challenger and alternative to the XTEINK S4.

EEGOGO P4 and A4 Pricing and Availability

In a teaser video on Chinese social media, EEGOGO promised an early bird price for the A4 of RMB199 ~ USD$30 and standard price RMB239 ~USD$35 which is very cheap; the P4 Lite pricing is listed as early birds RMB299 ~ USD$45 with a release price of RMB339 ~USD$50. Based on pricing, it would seem (oddly) that the P4 Lite is the ‘premium’ model despite the Lite name.

Will this put pressure on the XTEINK S4 price? Given pre-orders open before the S4 drops, I think this will be massively disrupting to XTEINK plans. Let’s see! Exciting times in the microreader space. FYI the XTEINK S4 was expected to release late April but has been delayed. Update! May 16th 2026, EEGOGO pre-order devices can now be claimed, so hoping to see shipments in June.

One thing that did happen is XTEINK and EEGOGO got into a fight on Chinese social media that resulted in both of them having to suspend preorder sales. You can read the summary of the XTEINK vs EEGOGO fight here. If you want the ;tldr, there are claims one side misrepresented the specs of their device and the ran campaigns to get people to complaint. End result, they both got suspended from being able to sell their pre-release devices.

When does the EEGOGO Ship?

I have pre-ordered both EEGOGO devices and they will  (appaerntly) ship in June. They are no longer available for pre-order, it was just for a brief window in China.

And here’s a video of the EEGOGO A4 price confirmation below. Enjoy!
