As a fan of traditional watches, I’m always on the search for an unobtrusive health tracker and really like the Oura ring. Having owned both the Oura 3 and the Oura 4.
Unfortunately, an extra Oura Ring 4 Charger is not cheap, coming in at US$59+ tax. So, I have been on the hunt for a cheaper aftermarket Oura charger. Something I can throw in my travel bag, so I don’t have to worry if I get the “recharge” notification when I’m not home. Or, if you’re unlucky, you may need a replacement Oura 4 charger because you lost yours (sorry!) but you can get one fast from Amazon and it will be cheaper than the official charger.
I have tested the following aftermarket Oura 4 chargers (in alphabetical order).
- Snyeest
- Vokelater
- Vokelater Battery Pack (Oura 3/Oura 4)
I’m keeping an eye out for others and will buy/review as I can. Currently I keep an Oura 4 charger at home, one at the office, and one in my go-travel bag. Cheapest Oura 4 Charger Alternative / Spare Oura 4 Charger (Vokelater)
This Oura 4 Charger Replacement from Vokelater is the best value. This replacement Oura 4 charger is available in sizes 8-10, it’s consistently under $30 (less if you score a coupon).
It’s a slightly different design than the original. It’s taller, the charging light at the front vs top, and your Oura goes in reverse compared to the official. But at ~US$30, it’s half the price of the official Oura charger, so this is a reasonable trade off.
The indicator light lights up when blue when it’s charging. There’s a USB A to USB C cable included. What I like is it’s super light, and as the lightest aftermarket Oura 4 Ring charger that I have found it’s great for travel when bag weight matters. You can’t beat the value of the Vokelater Oura 4 charger. You can see the Vokelater Oura 4 charger on the right, it’s the charger on the far right.
Best Quality Oura 4 Charger Alternative / Oura 4 Replacement Charger (Snyeest)
If you can’t don’t mind paying a little more than the Vokelater model, then the other Oura Ring 4 Charger alternative I have found is this one from Snyeest (yeah, weird name). They’re available in Sizes 4-15 (although the Oura Ring 4 Size 8 charger is cheapest for some reason). You get more size choices, so this may be better for some. The reason why I call this the best quality is it doesn’t feel cheap and passes as almost the original. If you lost your Oura Ring 4 Charger, this is your best option. It’s pictured here, the aftermarket one is on the right. The reason why I like this model is it charges your Oura 4, it looks as premium as the official one, is USB C to USB C charging (cable included) and still has the rubber backing so it doesn’t slide on a desk.
Comparison Oura 4 Official v Vokelater v Snyeest Chargers
The Vokelater and Snyeest chargers both work perfectly on my Oura 4. I am using them with a generic USB C cable rather than their included cables, as the included cables were all a little too short. I thought some people might be interested in how they compare side by side. Like how they actually look. So, I have done this stacked sideways photo, as it gives you a better sense Official v Snyeest v Vokelater. I did them in this order as you can see the thickness of the charger change. You can see the Snyeest is pretty thin and smaller than the official Oura 4 charger. Strangley, the Snyeest fits better in the Vokelater travel charger, and you can still close the clamshell lid (more on that later).
Best Oura Ring 3 / Oura Ring 4 Battery Charger / Oura 4 Charging Case
Vokelater make this cool Oura Ring Battery Backup Charging Case. It’s not a replacement charger, it’s best with the Oura 4 or Oura 3 original charger (just because of height and clam shell close lid), but it essentially a case for your Oura that has a built-in battery. I like that it’s clamshell design and snaps shut and works with ANY size Oura ring (they make a dedicated battery backup with a built Oura in charger if you happen to be an Oura Ring size 8). I like this because if you want to quickly charge your Oura when travelling, this makes it so easy. The picture on the right is the official Oura 4 charger in the case.
How does the Oura 4 ring battery charger work? There’s a USB C plug that flips up, and you just slide in your Oura ring charger. The case also charges by USB C and a USB A to USB C cable is included.
The Oura Ring Battery Backup Charging Case also makes the perfect gift for any family member or friend who owns an Oura ring. I’m grabbing one for a friend who owns an Oura 3. The case charges by USB C and has a 1000mAh battery. Given how small the Oura Battery is, you’ll get at least 20x charges before you need to recharge the battery case. To be fair, this Oura Battery Charging case is better with the official charger, as the Vokelater charger is a little thicker and and adds some height preventing the lid closing (tested on Oura Ring 4). Vokelater do make one with a charger and battery together, if you’re a Size 8, but overall, great for an emergency charge on the nightstand when traveling and keeps your Oura charger protected as well.
Overall
If you want to save 50% on Oura Ring 4 charger, need a replacement because you lost your Oura Ring 4 charger, or need a spare Oura Ring 4 charger for travel, etc. You can’t go wrong with this one from Vokelater. If you lost your Oura 4 charger and need a replacement, I’d recommend this one from Snyeest. And if you’re looking for the best gift for someone who owns an Oura, their battery charging pack is both handy and very cool.
