Guide: Fix Computer Not Detecting XTEINK X4 / XTEINK X3 (Works!)

If you just bought an XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3 and your device is not detected when you plug it in using USB by your browser when you’re trying to flash custom firmware, your device is firmware locked. XTEINK started locking the firmware for devices bought from China and this mostly impacts models bought on AliExpress. XTEINK sells unlocked X4s and X3s directly from their website, or if you’re in the US, your best option is to buy an XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3 from Amazon as they are unlocked (and warranty support is better).

If you’re trying to flash custom firmware, there is a fix – so don’t panic! There’s an unlock tool for locked XTEINK X4/X3’s made by Crosspoint Reader, you can find the XTEINK Unlock Tool here. It’s easy to use and you can find plenty of YouTube tutorials.

I will say, don’t assume your XTEINK X4/X3 is locked before your try the Crosspoint unlock tool, make sure you are using a Chrome-based browser and your XTEINK X4/X3 is turned on. If web flashing doesn’t work after you check those steps, then use the unlock tool.

If you’re trying to transfer EPUB files to your XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3, you don’t transfer files using the USB cable, you need to use a microSD card reader, or you can transfer over WiFi using the default software/XTEINK app; or many of the 3rd party Crosspoint mobile apps. And while you’re at it, replace the included microSD card with something better, the stock microSD card is bad.
