I’ll say this upfront, this recipe is probably enough to give Italians nightmares and it’s also not my go-to personal recipe (my son actually found it). It’s more of an emergency recipe, when it’s late and you’re time poor and don’t want to order out. The good news is this is a fast 15min spag bol recipe that you can do in an InstantPot. It’s got good a good flavor and most of the ingredients you should have always handy in your pantry/fridge/freezer. I would call it the perfect spaghetti bolognese for busy nights. Easy, flavorful, and kid‑approved emergency spag bol.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef (I use 85/15)
  • 1/2 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar tomato-based Pasta sauce
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon (I use the chicken base, it really does help with the flavor)
  • 8 ounces spaghetti, broken in half (I can hear Italians crying as I wrote that)

Method

  1. Turn on your Instant Pot, set to Saute and add the 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Add the minced garlic, then the ground beef, then 1/2 tsp each of garlic, onion and Italian season powder.
  3. Cook the ground beef until evenly brown.
  4. Add the jar of pasta sauce and stir.
  5. Add the 1 tsp boullion sauce and stir.
  6. Add 3/4 cup of water and the pinch of salt and stir.
  7. Add the 8oz broken (sorry Italians!) spaghetti pasta. If you are going to add more than 8oz pasta, add more water.
  8. Set your Instant Pot to Pressure Cook for 7 minutes with release open.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes then serve (this lets the pasta better absorb the sauce).
  10. Serve and enjoy!

Hope this helps someone else (and makes your life easier!)
