This guide for Remarkable Case Alternatives is for the Remarkable Paper Pro (not the Remarkable 2). If you own a Remarkable 2, check out Remarkable 2 compatible case alternatives here. If you own a Remarkable Paper Pro Move, compatible after market Remarkable Paper Pro Move cases can be found here.
The Remarkable Paper Pro aka Color Remarkable aka Remarkable 3 was released in September 2024 and is a complete redesign. Everything is different – this includes the pen and the case. At US$579 for the Paper Pro with the basic pen, you might be looking at ways to save money. The only real way to save money on the Remarkable Paper Pro is with an aftermarket case. Given that the official Remarkable Paper Pro case costs US$90, you can save serious money with an aftermarket case.
I finally pulled the trigger on the Paper Pro and for the case, I am using the Group Vertical PU Leather Grey Folio case. At under US$20 on Amazon, that’s a US$60 saving in your pocket on the official case! I want to stress, this is a Remarkable Paper Pro case, so this case only fits the new 11.8″ Paper Pro. The case also has some advantages over the official case, namely it has a flap to hold the pen secure. I can’t emphasize how important this is given the new pen needs to be charged and this is done by attaching it magnetically to the side of your Remarkable Paper Pro. I had anxiety that with some sort of flap, like the Group Vertical case has, the pen would detach in my bag and it would end up flat (or worse, lost!) and I’d have a non-usable Remarkable Paper Pro.
Texture wise the case is nice, it’s not genuine leather, it’s PU Leather which is a fancy name for artificial plastic-type leather. I have used cases like this before on my Remarkable 2, without issue. And again, for the savings – it’s worth saving $60 and even Remarkable’s basic Paper Pro case uses the same artificial leather and the Paper Pro even secures in magnetically. Making it really an Apples-to-Apples comparison to the official case.
Anyway, the Group Vertical Case works like a charm, connects magnetically to your Remarkable Paper Pro and I 100% recommend it and for US$20, you can save some money, reduce your anxiety by knowing your pen is secure in your bag, and spend the money you save on something else instead.
Hope this helps someone else!
PS. If you lose your Remarkable Paper Pro pen (so far, I have not and I hope this doesn’t jinx me), you can learn more about Remarkable Paper Pro pen alternatives here.
