The Remarkable Paper Pro aka Remarkable 3 is Remarkable’s full color update to the Remarkable 2. See here for my comparison of Remarkable 2 to the Remarkable 3. Unlike the Remarkable 2, the Remarkable 3 does not work with EMR pens and you can’t use your old Remarkable 2 pen on the Remarkable Paper Pro. With the Remarkable Paper Pro, Remarkable have continued their tradition of charging a lot for pens (from US$79). But what happens if you lose your pen, need an urgent replacement? Are there after market pens? Yes! Do they work? Yes! And that’s the purpose of this review.
KuRoKo Stylus Pen for Remarkable Paper Pro Pen
KuRoKo made the excellent aftermarket case I used on my Remarkable 2 and now they have their own pen for the Remarkable Paper Pro. This pen is equivalent to the Marker Plus (eraser). You can pick the KuRoKo Remarkable Paper Pro pen up on Amazon for US$50. But there are some tradeoffs, the big one is that it does not charge magnetically – you have to charge it via USB C. It’s not ideal that you have to charge it via USB C, but as an emergency replacement or spare pen, it’s currently the best pick I can find. At time of writing these Remarkable Paper Pro replacement pens have been popping in and out of stock on Amazon. If you need it, see it, grab it. It’s just good to have a spare pen. Sometimes in my rush to leave the office to get home, I have grabbed my Remarkable and left my pen on my desk. The good news about the KuRoKo Remarkable Paper Pro pen is you do get the eraser and for less than half the price of the official Remarkable Paper Pro Marker Plus.
This is the only Remarkable Paper Pro replacement pen I have found so far to work. I’ll continue to keep an eye out, buy and test other pens as and when they become available.
I’m also testing Remarkable Paper Pro case alternatives. I’m waiting for this one to arrive from Amazon. More to come!
PS. Worth noting, any pen compatible with the Remarkable Paper Pro will not work on the Remarkable 2. You should check out this list of Remarkable 2 compatible pens instead.
