Short answer. No. Remarkable 2 Pens are not compatible with the Remarkable Paper Pro.

Long answer. Remarkable changed the technology used for the Remarkable Paper Pro (Remarkable 3). The Remarkable 2 used EMR technology, meaning you could use pens like the LAMY Al Star EMR. The Remarkable Paper Pro uses Active Pens, a technology from Wacom. It also means tips that you used in a Remarkable 2 pen will not work in the Remarkable Paper Pro Marker.

There are also more things you should know. The Marker for the Remarkable Paper Pro needs to be charged. This is done magnetically. I think this is the biggest disadvantage of Remarkable switching technology, as with EMR, there’ s no need for charging the pen – one of the reasons I love my Remarkable 2.

The departure from EMR means also means you lose the ability to do the Remarkable LAMY pen hack. It also means on the Remarkable Paper Pro you cannot use any of the aftermarket pens compatible with the Remarkable 2.

Sorry, wish it was better news.

What can you do?

I have a guide that shows side by side the features of the Remarkable Paper Pro vs Remarkable 2. If the switch from EMR gets you down and you want an eInk tablet that has backlighting and can do without color, then you may be better off grabbing a Kindle Scribe (for now).
