UPDATE! I Pre-Ordered, Read my Initial Take on the Remarkable Paper Pro Move – Click Here
To start, I am not affiliated with Remarkable and nothing I am sharing is official (yet).
This week, Remarkable sent out a teaser email with “Something is on the move. Be there, September 3, 2025 at 8am ET” with a link to their YouTube channel. It seems a full year after the launch of the Remarkable Paper Pro, we’re getting a new portable, smaller Remarkable.
Update 9/3: It’s confirmed, the Remarkable Paper Pro Move is the name, you can order now from Amazon from US$449.
So what do we known. Internet sluething and a few leaks have given us a lot to go on. First of all, none of the information below is official and is the result of my own research, digging, and analysis (with a few leaks as well). We’ll find out for sure in a few days.
For what it’s worth, this new Remarkable will be the 4th Remarkable device, most people forget there was the Remarkable 1.
Remarkable’s own clues
Outside of the official emails, and 15 second YouTube teaser (where the grooved ridged edges of the new device are clearly shown), there was code hidden in the console view of the Remarkable homepage. The somewhat enigmatic message of:

**** ooo, good, you found us 👀 ****╭
“The curious may find more than just answers. Let your little journey begin.
Your thoughts can be shaped in calm, beneath a lamp’s amber glow. They can also
be born as a fleeting sketch on a napkin, far from any desk.
The next clue will be revealed in 2 days.”
************ good luck! ************
But the real Easter Egg was in the layout, as my screenshot shows, which suggests the small form factor of a new Remarkable tablet, with the trademark Remarkable horizontal line. That was 2 days ago (August 27th), so I expect another clue soon. I’ll try and keep this post updated, and I will keep searching for clues. On August 29th, it updated to “The next clue has been revealed” as shown in this updated screenshot. I’m still hunting for that next clue!
Update, I found the next clue! Super exciting! Onward to the next clue in 2 days… this one was hidden in the console of this page. I already think I know where to find the next clue.
Update 8/31 A bit late posting today, as was away from the computer. The 3rd clue is out! This one tells us there is a clue tomorrow (9/1). The “go fourth and prosper” line, is definitely a hint at the next Remarkable, which will be the 4th Remarkable. I’ve got a few options where I think this next clue may be found, flagship is definitely the “Remarkable Paper Pro” but the echo – depends how early in Remarkable’s history you’re prepared to go 🙂
Update 9/1 The final clue and a Remarkable Competition!!! A clear hint on the name (move) and a chance to win something, my guess is some swag and potentially the new Remarkable device.
Not long now until launch! I will live blog the launch of the new Remarkable, you can follow the live blog here.
A shoutout and kudos to Remarkable for having some fun for the fans!
US Patents and Trademark / US FCC Searches for Remarkable Paper Pro Move
As per usual, I have scoured the US Patents Office database and also the US Trademarks database. There is nothing in the US Patent database. The FCC filings are quiet, aside from April 2025 WiFi registrations for the Remarkable 2. That’s not unusual. Companies can request confidentiality, and Remarkable did this last time. The April 2025 FCC filing does note a confidentiality request, so maybe Remarkable 2 was just a placeholder name for the new Remarkable.
Will the Remarkable 2 be discontinued?
This could be unique to me, but Amazon doesn’t let me click any buy or shop now links for the Remarkable 2 on the Remarkable storefront page (you can buy the Remarkable 2 on a deep link). Does this mean the new Remarkable will mark the end of life for the Remarkable 2? The Remarkable 2 was released in 2005, and while mine is still going strong, 5 years is prehistoric in the life of tech.
I’ve been speculating for a while with friends that Remarkable needs to release a smaller form factor Remarkable. Somewhere between the Boox Palma and Boox Color Go. Having spotted users of both of those devices in the wild, it definitely captures my attention and my Remarkable is starting to feel big and not a take everywhere device.
This is where it gets exciting, I found some leaked images but I am not sharing out of respect for Remarkable… let’s all be wait a few more days.
New Remarkable Price?
On price, no official pricing has leaked or been announced. The Paper Pro is currently listed at $670. The Remarkable 2 is currently at $559. If the new device is positioned between them, expect something around US$500. For US customers, US tariffs may complicate that, the Remarkable 2 and Paper Pro have gone up $50 as a result of tariffs. I think anything above $500 for a new Remarkable would be too expensive (iPad mini price territory, and yes, I know the pros vs cons). The Boox Go Color 7 is US$279 without a pen, but if the new Remarkable comes in at $300 or under, that would be the perfect price. I’d be first in line for any Remarkable at at $300 price point. This also makes me more inclined to think the Remarkable 2 will be discontinued. It is, after all over 5 years old and if it’s $559 and if the new Remarkable was $500, it’s hard to see a home for the Remarkable 2 anymore unless it gets discounted.
Price Update 9/3: The Remarkable Paper Pro Move starts at $449 (I bet it was $399 before tariffs) and is available to buy now from Amazon.
I’ll keep this post updated. I’m a huge fan of Remarkable devices and like you, can’t wait until September 3rd.
PS. Remarkable, if you find or read this post, I’d love to formally review it! I’m a longtime fan and have influenced more than a few purchases of Remarkable tablets. 🙂
