The blog posts are organized into the following categories:

There’s a miscellaneous category for things that don’t really have a home. I also have a long blog post full of useful websites, simply called tips. If we meet in person or virtually, odds are I will mention a website listed in tips.

The more popular technically skewed posts, you can find a list of those here. For tips specific to macOS, you can find macOS tips here. If you’re an owner of a Remarkable eInk tablet and what hacks, guides, and utilities start here.

From 2016-2021, Joshua published a weekly email, called Last Week in Digital Media. The newsletter summarizes the latest news in digital media, marketing, and technology of the week. The email newsletter was published for several years and was available as both a (limited) free or paid subscription. The archive is still available.

First Look: LilyGo’s Eink Lineup: T Deck Max, T5 E Paper S3 Pro Lite, and T Deck Pro Meshtastic

I spend a lot of time with compact Eink devices. I own every XTEINK model and follow the steady stream of innovation coming out of China (because Amazon has most definitely lost their way on eInk innovation). If you exclude the Remarkable, most eInk innovation is coming out of China, specifically Shenzhen. I lived in Guangzhou several years ago, but Shenzhen is in the same Guangdong province and passed through Shenzhen whenever I caught the train to Hong Kong. LilyGo is yet another Shenzhen microreader/eInk device that I randomly discovered. They sit closer to and in the general space as ...

Opinion: Has Amazon Lost Its Way with Kindle?

The past few weeks I have been reflecting on the Amazon and their Kindle devices and finally got around to putting it all into words. Opinion is my own and not a reflection of any employer past, present, or future. I still remember when I bought my first Kindle. It was the Kindle Keyboard, and I bought it around 2010/11 direct from Amazon US. This may seem odd for me to note, but I was living in Australia at the time so ordering from Amazon US was a big thing and shipping was far from fast - no Prime in ...

Preview: XTEINK MX Portable eInk Screen

XTEINK have been teasing that there were new products in the works and we finally have a new teaser. This is the XTEINK MX, it's a portable eINK screen. It's a plug and play device external screen, optimized for a phone or computer. The refresh rate isn't bad considering it's eInk. Yes, there are some refresh artefacts, but this is really pushing eInk to its limit. XTEINK claim that they're still working on the software for the XTEINK MX, so expect more updates over the coming weeks. When will the XTEINK MX be released? That's a fair question, at the ...

Guide: How to Install Steam Deck Plugins/Hacks/Mods (Decky Guide)

I have had a Steam Deck for a few years now, but have never really posted about it, but over the past days I started using it more and thought it would be good to share my best ways to mod and hack the Steam Deck to get the most out of it. Plus, like most of my posts, this guide exists so I don’t forget it myself… How to Install Steam Deck Plugins/Hacks/Mods It all starts by switching to Desktop mode, to do this: On your Steam Deck, press the Steam button. Select Power. Select Switch to Desktop Your ...

Guide: Fix Computer Not Detecting XTEINK X4 / XTEINK X3 (Works!)

First, I am not affiliated with XTEINK and do not provide technical support - sorry. If you just bought an XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3 and your device is not detected when you plug it in using USB by your browser when you're trying to flash custom firmware, your device is firmware locked. XTEINK started locking the firmware for devices bought from China and this mostly impacts models bought on AliExpress. XTEINK sells unlocked X4s and X3s directly from their website, or if you're in the US, your best option is to buy an XTEINK X4 or XTEINK X3 from ...

User Review: Epomaker TH108 Pro with Screen – Full Size Wireless Gaming Keyboard (PC/Mac)

This is a real user review of the Epomaker TH108 Pro gaming keyboard with screen (not to be confused with the TH108V2. I own the TH108 in white, with Sea Salt silent switches. I got the TH108 Pro to upgrade my office setup from the TH80 V2 Pro (I also have had the Epomaker Galaxy 100 Lite, but it got yoinked by a family member). Why the Epomaker TH108? I really needed a full numeric keypad. Like my other Epomaker keyboards, the TH108 Pro is also Mac/PC compatible and doesn't require you to install software to customize features... one of ...

Movie Review: Frequently Asked Questions about Time Travel (2009)

This is a modern (2026) review of Frequently Asked Questions about Time Travel... trust me, you'll like this... I found Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel after rewatching "Moone Boy", and I fell down a Chris O’Dowd rabbit hole. I discovered he had starred in this 2009 British sci‑fi comedy I had never heard of, despite it being my kind of genre. I watched it on a rainy weekend in May 2026, which is 17 years after its release. I like the time travel genre and movies. The classic Time Machine (1960), My Science Project (1985), Back to the Future ...

Review: Stranger than Fiction Watch: Timex Ironman T56371

This is a review of the Stranger than Fiction Watch, the Timex Ironman T56371. I'm posting this 15 years after the watch ceased production and I've only owned mine for less than 6 months... but I guess any review is better late than never! Every watch I own is special. The ones gifted to me on milestone moments have the most treasured place in my heart. But there is one watch that I own, that has a character all of its own and that’s the Timex Ironman T56371 or as it’s known in some circles the “Stranger than Fiction” watch ...
